The Alliance works collaboratively on issues of mutual interest with the California Catholic Conference. The California Catholic Conference represents California’s bishops (and their dioceses) and allows for the coordination of the concerns of the Church in state public policymaking. Caring for the Whole Person initiative is a collaborative project of the Alliance, CCC and our California Catholic health systems, which seeks to ensure that parishioners and patients are accompanied, loved and supported in their serious illness and end-of-life journey. More information can be found at https://wholeperson.care/.
The Alliance is a founding, sustaining supporter of the Coalition for Compassionate Care of California. The Coalition works collaboratively with its members, health systems and providers, patient advocacy groups, professional associations, and policy- and lawmakers to promote high-quality care for those who are seriously ill or nearing the end of life. Among several other projects, the Coalition leads the California POLST Project. Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) is a form that specifies the types of medical treatment that a seriously ill patient wishes to receive. The Alliance was the co-sponsor of the legislation that recognizes the POLST form in California law. More information can be found at https://coalitionccc.org/.
